YES!!! You can send files to people in the chat!!!
The real advantage to this over other types of file transfer is that by sending directly to the server it is much faster and independent of the speed of the recieving parties connection. Additionally you can then /send [nick] [file] to many friends without having to upload again!
Alamak takes no responsibility for the content of files sent through the black box ftp server. Unknown files can contain illegal/objectional material or DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER!!!
These files are not checked by Alamak in anyway, so you should only click to accept the file if you feel the person presenting the link is trustworthy and you know what you are doing!!!
Though we are not responsible for the content of files you can report offensive files using the Contact Us Page and we'll have them removed at first opportunity.
To send files in the chat just type /send and you be presented with the following instructions.
Turn off your ftp proxy if you have it set, file upload will not work with ftp proxy!!!
To send files click on the link below and it will open NEW WINDOW to a black box ftp directory.
Drag the file you want to send into the window or use the pulldown under the file menu to where is says Upload File.
Wait till the file is finished being sent and close the upload window.
For privacy you will not be able to see the files in the black box ftp directory, but it will still be there.
Then use /send [nick] [filename] and the user you send to will get a link explaining that you are sending a file where they can click to retrieve.
